“European legislation and policy against discrimination on the ground of race, ethnicity and religion: theory, practice and future challenges”

Dear friends,
The Cyprus Labour Institute (INEK-PEO) is organising, within the framework of the above mentioned project, an international conference under the title “European legislation and policy against discrimination on the ground of race, ethnicity and religion: theory, practice and future challenges” to which we kindly invite you to participate.
At the conference, a representative of the European Commission will present the European legislation and policy in combating discrimination, while experts from other European countries will refer to selected aspects of the European legislation and its practical application in member states.
The conference is addressing to officers of public services involved in the designing, enactment and application of the legislation against discrimination, to members of the House of Parliament, to justice officers and legal advisers, to trade unionists and officers of employers organisations and to representatives of NGOs engaged with the issue of racism and discrimination. The conference is aiming on the one hand at raising awareness on the legislation against discrimination and its application and on the other hand at promoting the dialogue between stakeholders directly or indirectly involved in the enactment, the application and follow up of the legislation.
The conference will be addressed by the president of the House of Representatives, Mr. Demetris Christofias and the Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman), Mrs. Eliana Nicolaou.
The conference will take place on January 28th in Nicosia, at the conference hall of ETKA/PEO building (14 Simonidou St., 3rd Floor) and will commence at 9.15 am. Simultaneous interpretation in Greek, Turkish and English will be provided.
